Itinerary

DAY 1: BOGOTA

Reception and transfer from International Airport El Dorado to the hotel of your choice. Overnight.


DAY 2: BOGOTA (City Tour with Monserrate)

Breakfast. A staff member will meet you at the hotel to take you on a tour around the historic center of the city. The first stop will be at Plaza de Bolivar to walk along the streets to see the most important buildings of the city, such as the National Capitol, which is the center of the country’s legislative life; Casa de los Comuneros; Casa de Nariño, which is the Presidential house; and the Santa Clara Church Museum. The tour includes a visit to the Gold Museum, which exhibits about 34,000 pieces of metalwork from various Hispanic cultures and a visit to the House Museum Quinta de Bolivar, the house belonged to Simon Bolivar. The tour continues to the iconic symbol of Bogota, the Monserrate Hill rising up to 3,152 above sea level, to visit the sanctuary where you will find the statue of the Lord of Miracles. From there it is possible to enjoy the best view of Bogota. Afternoon at leisure and overnight.

Notes:

  • Gold Museum and Quinta de Bolivar are closed on Mondays; instead, we will visit “the Botero Museum or Casa de la Moneda Museum”.
  • Duration: Approximately of this tour 05 hours.
  • Operation: Monday to Saturday 9:00 Hrs. Sunday does not operate.

DAY 3: BOGOTA (Salt Cathedral Tour)

Breakfast. A staff member will meet you at the hotel, either in the morning or the afternoon, to take you on a tour through La Sabana de Bogota to the town of Zipaquirá, which name means ‘city of our Father’ in the language of the Chibcha. Back in pre-Columbian times, salt around the area was the most important commodity and the ‘salt cakes’ were the only currency for trading. Over time, technology improved and the Muiscas began to extract larger amounts of salt. As a result, an underground salt deposit was formed and it is where the Salt Cathedral was built, 180 meters below the surface. Inside, there is a chapel, “Capilla de los Mineros” built as a tribute to the Virgin “Our Lady of the Rosary of Guasá” (Guasá means ‘mine’ in Chibcha). Return to Bogotá and overnight

The Salt Cathedral is not recommended for persons with mobility restrictions, claustrophobic and pregnant women.

Duration: 4 hours and a half approximately.

DAY 4: BOGOTA – PEREIRA (COFFEE REGION)

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport as scheduled, to take a flight to Pereira. Reception at the airport of Pereira and transfer to the hotel of your choice. Overnight.

 

 

DAY 5: (RISARALDA – COFFEE REGION) / INTERACTIVE COFFEE PROCESS

Breakfast. With a local expert you´ll explore the special coffee plantations and you´ll learn all about the coffee process: the sowing, the selective manual harvest and the depulped. Then, you´ll toast some coffee grains in a wood stove in the kitchen of a typical peasant house, this is an authentic coffee experience. The tour continues through different stations with viewpoints to admire the beautiful landscape and the natural environment while you enjoy a cup of coffee. Finally, you´ll observe the innovative process of coffee drying and you´ll finish drinking a coffee lemonade in the principal house of the farm. Afternoon at leisure and overnight.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours of activity plus transfers time.

DAY 6: (RISARALDA – COFFEE REGION) / COCORA VALLEY AND SALENTO VILLAGE.

Breakfast. Assistance and transfer in private service to Cocora Valley enjoying the beautiful landscape. First, you´ll have a welcome cocktail “Canelazo”; with the assistance of a specialist eco-guide, you´ll be ready to start the introduction to the natural reserve of Cocora. Then, you´ll go to the fog´s forest, a place to admire the biodiversity of fauna and flora .There, you´ll find the highest wax palm of the world and you´ll connect with the earth doing a special ritual planting some palms. Then, you´ll go to the typical village of Salento where you´ll have a walking tour to visit its colonial streets, craft workshops and the principal viewpoint. Time to take an included typical lunch and transfer to return to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure and overnight.

DAY 7: PEREIRA – MEDELLIN

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport as scheduled, to take a flight to Medellin. Reception and transfer from International Airport of Rionegro to the hotel of your choice. Overnight.

DAY 8: MEDELLÍN (Visit Medellín)

Breakfast. A representative will contact you at your hotel to start a panoramic tour where you will appreciate some touristic places of Medellín, such as El Poblado neighborhood, the financial, hotel, and commercial center. The Nutibara Hill at the top of which is a replica of a typical Antioquia village, The Botanical Garden, The Explora Park, The Park of Desires, The Barefoot Park, The Metropolitan Cathedral, and Botero Square where 23 outdoor bronze sculptures by Colombian master Fernando Botero are exhibited. In addition, we will enjoy a tour of our massive metro public transport system. At the end, you will return to your hotel. Overnight.

Includes Transportation, tour guide, and visit to Pueblito Paisa, short walking at Botero Square, metro, and Metrocable.

Schedule: 8:30 to 9:00 a.m.

DAY 9: MEDELLÍN (EL Peñol and Guatapé Dams)

Breakfast. A representative will contact you at your hotel to start a tour for the east part of the province. The route goes to Marinilla, where we will find colonial constructions and a fervent religious tradition; The New Peñol, a municipality that replaced the old Peñol that was flooded to build the Peñol – Guatapé dams at the end of 1970. We will visit The Stone of El Peñol, a 220-meter-high rock. Finally, we will visit the municipality of Guatapé, where the plinth and facades of the twentieth century of its houses outstand, in addition of the seawall reservoir. At the end of the day, we will return to your hotel. Climbing El Peñol (659 steps) is optional, not included.

DAY 10: MEDELLÍN

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport as scheduled to take a flight to reach your final destination.
